We're hiring a Policy and Research Officer

By Dora-Olivia Vicol - 06 May 2022

The Work Rights Centre is looking for a Policy and Research Officer to join our ambitious and fast-growing team. We are a charity set up by migrants and for migrants. Every day we support people to challenge precarious work, insecure immigration status, and poverty entrenched by exclusion from public funds.

We’re looking for a colleague with a good eye for the big picture to bring these important issues to the attention of policymakers, and to help us challenge migrants’ inequality for the long term. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a strong sense of justice and experience in policy and research, who values impact, teamwork, and the autonomy of working in a small and agile team.

The Role

As Policy and Research officer, you will play a key role in our policy influencing work. Led directly by the CEO and working closely with our team of advisers, you will transform our frontline data into meaningful publications and recommendations for policy makers. This is a real opportunity to make research count, and to tackle migrants’ inequality through an ambitious policy agenda.

About you

We’re looking for a colleague who shares our commitment to equality, and impactful research. Key criteria include:

  • Enthusiastic and proactive, motivated by a strong sense of justice;
  • An excellent communicator with a track record of published work, you are as comfortable with writing a briefing note as you are with giving presentations;
  • An agile thinker with research experience, you can easily navigate mixed methods, from crunching data in excel (or other software), to conducing interviews sensitively;
  • A capable team player, you enjoy teamwork but can work autonomously to a high standard.
