The Work Rights Centre is seeking an Interim CEO to guide our small but ambitious team in fulfilling the charity mission while our permanent CEO is on maternity leave. We’re looking for an experienced leader who can ensure that our charity remains on track with fulfilling our charitable objectives and goals set out for 2023. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with previous experience of managing a team, budgets, and projects,  and who has a  passion for supporting vulnerable migrants.

The Role

As our Interim CEO you’ll have the opportunity to achieve real impact, both by overseeing our frontline work, and by working with our communication and policy team to  drive systemic change. You will lead our team to deliver our 2023 Business Plan, and ensure that the charity retains the resources, the reputation, and the vision it needs. Working closely with the Chair of Trustees and COO you will oversee the smooth running of the entire organisation, from service provision to communications, fundraising  and research.

About you

We’re looking for an experienced leader and people manager who shares our commitment to improving the lives of migrants, by supporting them to stand up to unscrupulous employers, apply for jobs, access benefits when they're struggling, and secure their immigration status.  Key criteria include:

  • Commitment to the aims and values of the Work Rights Centre
  • Significant experience in a management position in the third sector or in a small business
  • Experience in managing relationships with high level stakeholders
  • Strategic thinking: ability to assess complex information and decide on the course of action
  • Financial literacy and budget management
  • Experience of project management, delegating and supervising as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills

How to apply

Download the full job description and person specifications. Please send your CV and Cover Letter Kasia Figiel by Sunday, 25th of September. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted with a written task, and the best responses will be selected to progress to the interview stage.

We seek to appoint a candidate as early as November, to help with the handover from our current CEO going on leave in December.  We are happy to consider a part-time contract and/or fully remote work for an exceptional candidate.
